Information from architect :
On the top of one the few high rise buildings in Frederiksberg, Copenhagen, the interior of this penthouse has been completely redone. The apartment has a stunning view overlooking the city to both sides. The clients dream was a completely minimalistic space with no nonsense and plenty of light on the top of town.
Modern glass house by PCKO Architects
PCKO Architects in co-operation with MOFO Architects show us how to build beautiful homes with a minimum footprint and a maximum enjoyment on nature. The Jodlowa House near Krakow shines with its fully glazed facade, floating above the ground thanks to its steel frame. The modern glass house tempts with an indoor swimming pool, 2 bedrooms and 140 sq.m. living area. However, the most tempting part is the five-storey tower, consisting of guest rooms on the lower levels and a study on the top that offers extensive views on the surrounding nature. And talking about nature – a mature tree on the plot is preserved by integrating it into the house thanks to openings in the ceiling and the floor.
Interior Decorating
Day in and day out we go through the routine activities of our homes and after a certain point of time living becomes mundane. Remember the initial days after marriage…how engrossed we were in choosing the linen, the vase at the corner, the lamp near the bed, the bean bag in the living room and those huge abstract art frames, which your hubby resisted but you threatened to leave him if he objected… presently it may be dumped behind some dingy corner of the store.
Time moves on and things change. By now we are comfortably settled into the living space, just like the cosy space we make for ourselves as we sink into the bean bag. Our home becomes our identity and we would rather have the coffee mug balance itself precariously on the stand than shift it to another place. You may keep all the containers neatly stacked on the cabinet but somehow they always seems to be scattered untidily around the gas. that’s how things are in every house.
But it’s always good to bring in a little change and I guarantee the change will not go unnoticed. I think everyone at home is just waiting for someone to take the initiative and now is the time.
First a simple rule:
* Don’t fill the house with fancy stuff which becomes a hindrance in the daily activities. Let’s keep everything low key’
* Plants are known to brighten up the place and its just a matter of time before you will be obsessed with watching the flower bloom. get some bright colored flower pots and place it on the corner not very far from the sunshine.
* I have also used a lot of money plant leaves in the darker corners of the house. These plants are low maintenance: they do not require soil but just a glass of crystal clear water!! and grow in no time
* If watering plants and tending to weeds is not your cup of tea maybe you would like to try the ‘ikebana’. Fresh stems of roses, lilies, daffodils (Meg Ryan’s favourite in You’ve Got Mail) or just the usual zarberas can instantly brighten up the room. Just don’t forget to change the water regularly as the odour can be annoying.
* If you are still not enthusiastic enough about the flowers then how about artificial ones. This is for those corners of the house that look empty and bare. Just get a vase that’s huge and artistic. The earthenware vases are cheap and so is the vases made of bamboo or cane. Take one of those, and fill it with stalks of dry flowers. It sure will add the sophistication to your personality.
* Flowers are cliche for you? So how about cushions? A set of colourful cushions to line the bed and the stage is all set for the night. Get bright coloured cushions and contrast it with darker shades. Go berserk with the sizes too and arrange them in order.
* Curtains that are translucent with refined embroidery on them would add that classy look to the room. In case you want to go bold, the cotton curtains in bright colours may also be contrasted with the darker shades. Colours have a profound effect on your psychology so choose accordingly.
* In case you are not very convinced about my listof ideas then you can still change the look of the room. Just change the position of the television!!!!!!!! everything then will gradually start revolving around it!!
* If nothing else at least you had a good laugh.
Modern Italian Homes by Giovanni Vaccarini
Italian architect Giovanni Vaccarini designed the interesting, ultra modern Casa Capece Venanzi near Italy Adriatic coast. Situated in the peaceful suburbs, this modern, innovative home combines contemporary and unusual elements in its two-storey design. Atop the stone-and-glass-enclosed ground floor, an industrial-style second floor cantilevers over a deck. This upper floor gives this unique house design its modern flavor amidst the rolling green hills that surround it. Enclosing the upper level, window screens boast cut-outs that cast funky patterns of light onto the home minimalist interiors. An inner patio becomes the central focal point of this Italian house design, connecting the home top two floors with its underground level and an awesome rooftop garden.[via]
